About · The Cardinal Source

An independent sourcing firm. Built for the buy-side.

The Cardinal Source exists because mid-market operators deserve the same sourcing rigor that enterprise procurement teams take for granted. We benchmark, source, and negotiate technology contracts on behalf of the buyer. The suppliers pay us. The buyer picks the winner.

What we do.

We are the buy-side for telecom, cloud, contact center, network, and security sourcing. When a mid-market operator needs to renew, replace, or stand up a new technology contract, they engage us. We define what they actually need. We benchmark the current state. We score the qualified vendors against a published rubric. We negotiate the contract. We stay through go-live.

The supplier you eventually sign with pays us a residual commission that's built into their pricing whether you use an advisor or not. We never bill the buyer.

What makes us different.

Three things separate The Cardinal Source from the rest of the technology advisory channel.

The Cardinal Method. A four-stage sourcing framework with a published scoring rubric. The rubric weights change by industry context. The recommendation changes with the buyer because the math does. Open the Method →

The Cardinal Index. A proprietary cross-reference engine that maps each buyer's specific requirements against historical vendor performance data — from our own engagements, the advisor network we partner with, the technology distributors we source through, and outside industry research. Open the Index →

Published transparency. Our full supplier pool is published. Our scoring rubric is published. Our commission economics are disclosed openly. The other technology advisory firms in the channel won't tell you who's in their pool or how their recommendations get scored. We do. How we get paid →

Who we work with.

Mid-market operators and multi-location businesses across the verticals we cover — including veterinary hospital groups, multi-state cannabis operators, mid-market law firms, auto dealership groups, multi-unit QSR franchisees, independent insurance brokerages, and self-storage operators. We are adding new verticals as our coverage deepens. See all industries →

Who we don't work with.

Single-location operators under 25 employees, buyers who have already signed an LOI with a vendor, buyers looking for ongoing managed services or hardware sales. We say so up front because it saves both of us time. See the full "not a fit if" list →

Where we are based.

The firm operates remotely across the United States. Our engagements are run through video calls and written deliverables — the same workflow your accounting firm, your legal counsel, and your investment bankers already use.
